The GOP wants you to believe that consultation with Congress is sacred; like the right to own guns or corporate personhood. Historically, however, they add little when asked for opinions and often supply bad advice.
For example, after decades of well-founded attempts to deal with toxic fuel exploitation and impending energy disasters on our horizon, we are in a serious bind because of intentional Congressional dithering, a preference for fabricated science & illogical argument, allegiance to corporate sponsors and a penchant for divisive political posturing & pandering. The Congress is much more interested in campaigning for election, consolidating power & lining up donors, than in governing.
The result of that extended effort at Advice & Consent has given us world deforestation, global health problems, coal mine disasters, species extinction, toxic holding ponds, natural gas in our water supplies, massive oil spills, nuclear contamination and wars over control of fuel supplies. Asking the Congress for advice has been a disappointing activity for decades.
