I’m in Starbucks, listening to an anger counselor train 4 men, on how to deal with their children & partners. This anger is an increasing social issue that has long term consequences on our national quality of life. It leaves behind disenfranchised children and battered spouses, where our loved ones should be.
The consequences of parents, under pressure from eroding wages, high cost of housing and run away medical care, who have to work multiple low pay, temporary jobs to squeeze out a living. who have no time for their family relationships, is predicable. When everything is a struggle and pressure gives way to anger, children and relationships suffer from neglect.
The need to redistribute wealth to the middle class, invest in education and provide single parent families with realistic alternatives for child care, has never been greater. When the few control the many and use that control to hold them down, the reaction will be inevitable and it will be violent.
